Palakura Pappu Andhra Style

 

Palakura Pappu Andhra Style is prepared with spinach, lentils & few spices. It's the most comforting & satisfying combo when paired with hot rice & ghee.

What you will need

1 cup Toor dal/ Pigeon peas

½ teaspoon Turmeric powder

1 Medium Onion, chopped

3 green chillies, slit lengthwise

3 cups tightly packed Spinach, washed & roughly chopped

1½ teaspoon Red chilli powder

Gooseberry size Tamarind

1 Tomato, chopped

½ teaspoon Sugar

Salt to taste

2 teaspoons Oil (or Ghee)

4-5 garlic pods, crushed

½ teaspoon Mustard seeds

1 teaspoon Cumin seeds

2-3 dry red Chillies

½ teaspoon asafoetida

A sprig of Curry leaves
