Sambar is a traditional recipe of south India.Any south Indian breakfast like Idli, Dosa, Pongal,Vada is incomplete without this delicious sambar.It is a blend of all tastes like Spicy, tangy, salt and and a little bit of sweet in it,Its quite easy to make and you can add any vegetables of your choice.It add all the nutrients for our daily diet.

What you will need

For Tempering

1/4 tsp Mustard seeds

1/4 tsp Fenugreek seeds

2 Dry red Chiliesย 

few Curry leaves

1/4 tsp Turmeric powder

1/8 tsp Asafoetida / Hing

10-12 Shallots

For Sambar

1 Cup Toor Dal / Thuvaram Paruppu

2 Tbsp Sambar Powder

1 tsp Chili powder

Tamarind juice(lemon size tamarind soaked in water)

Vegetables (Carrots, Eggplant, Cucumber, Drumstick)

2 Tomatoes

1/4 tsp Jaggery / Vellam

2 Tbsp Oil

required Salt

required water

Coriander leaves for Garnishing
