What you will need

4 strips bacon, sliced into 1/2" pieces

1 yellow onion, finely chopped, about 1 cup's worth

1 tablespoon butter

2 tablespoons all purpose or brown rice flour

2 large russet potatoes, peeled and chopped into 1/2" pieces, about 4 cups worth

1 cup heavy cream

1 1/2 cups milk

1 8 ounce jar of clam juice

2 bay leaves

1 teaspoon kosher salt

1/4 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper

2 cans chopped clams

Optional: crackers for serving
