French Apple Pie

2 1/2 pounds (1.2kg) Golden Delicious apples
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/2 cup (100g) sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3/4 cup (140g) dark raisins or currants
1 tablespoon dark rum
2 cups (280g) unbleached all-purpose flour
1/3 cup (65g) sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
8 tablespoons (115g) unsalted butter, (cold)
2 large eggs
1 cup (140g) confectioners’ sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons water
