Hyderabadi Chicken Biriyani

 

I could eat biriyani once a week for the rest of my life! This recipe is one of many I make like clockwork. Its an all day affair that calls for patience. The end result is a flavorful, spicy plate of chicken and rice.

What you will need

2 pounds Chicken legs and thighs

6 tablespoons Yogurt

1 teaspoon Turmeric powder

2 teaspoons Chile powder

2 tablespoons Ginger paste

1 Green Chile, slit in half

1 cup Cilantro, roughly chopped

1 teaspoon Kosher salt

1 Lime

Canola oil for frying onions

1 Cinnamon stick

4 Cloves

2 Yukon Gold Potatoes

3 cups Basmati Rice

6 cups Water

A large pinches Saffron

1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt

2 teaspoons Ghee
