Pork & Vegetable Filling (for Steamed Buns, Potstickers, or Wontons)

 

This is a recipe for a basic but flavorful pork filling that can be used for everything from dumplings to steamed buns. Feel free to substitute the ground pork with turkey or chicken.

What you will need

1 pound ground pork

3 cups shredded Napa cabbage (or 1 cup shredded Brussels sprouts -- I like the extra crunch!)

1 teaspoon salt (omit if using Brussels sprouts)

1 tablespoon sugar

2-3 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 tablespoon shaoxing rice wine (in a pinch, use sake or mirin)

1 teaspoon grated ginger

2 stalks green onion, finely sliced

3-4 garlic cloves, minced

2 tablespoons cornstarch (optional)
