Sweet and Crispy Chicken Wings


A fantastic recipe for crispy, crunch sweet-sour Asian chicken wings. A perfect party or football game snack! From chef David Lebovitz.

What you will need

1/4 cup (35g) flour

1/4 cup (35g) cornstarch or potato starch

1 large egg

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon ground red chili pepper

10 chicken wings, (tips removed, then each wing cut into two pieces)

1 tablespoon frying oil ((I use colza or peanut))

1/2 cup (125ml) water or beer

three inch (7cm) piece of fresh ginger, (peeled and thinly sliced)

1 1/2 tablespoon soy sauce

1/2 cup packed light or dark brown sugar

3 tablespoons rice vinegar

1/2 cup (160g) light corn syrup or rice syrup

1/3 cup (35g) roasted peanuts (very coarsely chopped)

2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds

1 teaspoon red chili flakes
