I copied my kid's favorite pants... it was easier than I expected, so from now on I will always make them myself!

What you will need

1/2 yard knit fabric

5 inches r knit fabric

Sewing machine

Fabric cutter

20 inches elastic for the waistband

How to do this project

tern following the lines of the pants in the photo.

I did not have a pattern for the pants I want to make. So I made my own pattern following the lines of the pants in the photo.

2

Play

The pants has 3 parts. The legs, the cuffs and the crotch

3

Play

Cut the fabric per your pattern. You will need 4 leg pieces.

4

Play

These are all the fabric cut

5

Play

Start by joining the front and back leg fabric. Sew at the smallest part.

6

Play

Here are the front and back of the legs.

7

first, then the front.

Now sew the crotch part. It was the hardest part for me! Sew the back part first, then the front.

8

Play

This is how it will look like after you sew the back and front parts

Now sew the sides of the legs

o that wrong sides are together and then again about 1/4 of an inch. Pin it and/or press it to hold it in place. Then sew all the way around BUT leave a couple inches of opening. See the next step.

To add the elastic at the waist, fold your fabric over once about an inch so that wrong sides are together and then again about 1/4 of an inch. Pin it and/or press it to hold it in place. Then sew all the way around BUT leave a couple inches of opening. See the next step.

12

Play

The opening is where you insert the elastic.

13

Play
nd the waist.

Use a safety pin at one of the elastic extremity to insert the elastic around the waist.

14

Play
u left opened

Sew the extremities of the elastic well, then close the couple of inches you left opened

15

Play
with the stretchiest part going horizontal which will be placed along the pants edge. Sew the largest opened end together. Then closet the cuff and sew it together. Your cuffs are ready. Now we have to sew it to the pant.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, add the ribbed cuffs: You want the fabric ribs vertical on the cuff with the stretchiest part going horizontal which will be placed along the pants edge. Sew the largest opened end together. Then closet the cuff and sew it together. Your cuffs are ready. Now we have to sew it to the pant.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oto, right sides facing each other. Pin the cuff to the leg hem. The leg should be bigger than them cuff. The cuff raw edges will lie on top of the legs raw edges, with the folded edge of the cuff lieing toward the top of the leg (like a cuff that has been rolled up). Sew the cuff to the leg, this part is tricky! Be careful to only sew through one layer of cuff your sleeve shut!

Now, place your pants cuff over your plants legs just as it shows in the photo, right sides facing each other.

Here is the pant ready to be worn!

He loved it! Look the walking! Very tight in the cuffs, so it doesn't bother his learning to walk
