Make Your Own Baby Blanket
I started preparing my son's nursery last year when I was pregnant. And I wanted his blanket and cushions to follow exactly the color scheme for the nursery decoration, so I made my own!
What you will need
24" x 36" inches of fabric
Lots of pins
How to do this project
I decided to make a patch work, so I bought 6 different kinds of fabric. It's way easier if you decide to use just one fabric!
Cut the fabric into 6" squares
On a table, work on your pattern. It sounds simple, it it took me almost an hour to decide on the final pattern!
Start sewing the squares, start sewing in groups of two. Then work on correcting the 2's making groups of 4 until you have all the squares connected.
It's also important to iron the extra fabric after you stitch the fabric together. Otherwise it can get messy when you are joining all the different groups of squares together.
I did patchwork on one side, and a simple fabric on the otherwise. So now it's time to align the patchwork, with the chenille and the other piece of fabric. Use tons of pins to make sure nothing moves when your are sewing
I decided to sew around all the squares of my patchwork to make sure the chenille stays in place even when washing
Now it's time to finish your quilt by perfecting the borders. I used binding tape, but I would suggest using a wide piece of fabric as binding. It will be much more soft! Binding tape is a little stiffy.
Since my sewing machine is also a embroider I decided to write my son's nickname on a corner
