Hey I was going to use some white oak to make an endgrain cutting board as well but after some research most people say it is too porous to be an effective cutting board (bacteria and food can get in). The board is beautiful and I was wondering what your thoughts were? Do you think this should be a rule or simply a suggestion?
White oak is an excellent choice for cutting boards. Just need to clean the surface with common sense. Also, 90% of bacteria is eliminated on wood surfaces on its own in time. This has been proven in scientific studies.
