This was a fun little project. My fiance loves to read, and this allows you to hold a book open with one hand.

What you will need

I had a 1x6 of oak, but whatever would work.

How to do this project

and even. Cut the the piece into a triangle. Drilled the hole with drill press. Then carved the desired shape with a combo of a chisel and sander. Sanded it smooth, and applied some finish, sand again and done. (In hindsight, I would make the wing angle a little lower, to be more diamond shaped. The higher angle let's the pages open more than might be desired.)

I used a hand saw to rip the 1x6 to a, I guess, .5x6. Hand planed it smooth and even. Cut the the piece into a triangle. Drilled the hole with drill press. Then carved the desired shape with a combo of a chisel and sander. Sanded it smooth, and applied some finish, sand again and done. Good work. I got to try this. My wife is a bookaholic.
