1
Slice and dice stale bread slices to desired cube size.
2
According to how much bread cubes you have, mix oil and vinegar with spices. For about 3 cups of cubes, about ½ cup of oil and ⅛ cup of vinegar. Spices can be turmeric, saffron, curry, nutmeg, ground ginger, paprika, or any red or yellow spice. Herbs can be rosemary, oregano, basil, celery, hot pepper flakes, thyme, sage, etc. Garlic powder or garlic salt can be added, to taste.
3
Mix in herbs and spices well, then pour over bread cubes.
4
Mix well to cover all the cubes.
5
In non-stick skillet or cast iron skillet, slightly oiled, or on an oven tray, over oven paper, spread the croutons out well. Use medium heat for skillet, under broiler at medium heat for oven. In skillet, stir and turn until toasted to taste, about 2-4 minutes. In oven, after about 1-2 minutes, turn/stir, and turn off oven. Let toast to taste, checking after a couple of minutes.

Serve on soups or in broths.
