How to Make Clarified Butter (ghee)

Ghee is one of the best cooking oils out there. It is made by removing the water and milk solids from butter making it shelf stable and have a higher smoke point than normal butter and olive oil. It has a lovely toasty butter flavor and is most common in Indian cooking, but can be used in infinite ways!
What you will need
1 cup Unsalted Butter

In a saucepan over medium low heat, slowly melt the butter.

The butter solids will sink to the bottom and the foamy layer of bubbles will become larger. Simmer stirring constantly until the bubbles become small again and the bits on the bottom are browned and smelling toasty.

Strain the butter through a paper towel over a fine mesh sieve to remove the browned bits and foam.

Pour into a sealing container to let cool. Store in a cool, dry place.
