Lemon Thyme Butter

This bright compound butter makes a great homemade gift, and goes great with pasta, seafood, or steak! It will store in the freezer to keep fresh until used. Make sure your butter is softened before making so the ingredients are easily incorporated.
What you will need
1 Lemon
1/2 cup Unsalted Butter
1 Tbsp Fresh Thyme
1/4 tsp Salt

Gather and portion ingredients.

Place the softened butter in a mixing bowl.

Pick thyme leaves into the bowl with the butter.

Add the salt to the butter.

Zest the lemon. You will want about 1 tsp of zest in the butter.

Whip the butter with the thyme and lemon zest until evenly incorporated.

Add a squeeze of lemon juice (about 1 tsp) and stir once more to incorporate.

A nice way to package this butter is to roll it up and wrap it like a candy in parchment and tie with string on each side. You can also use plastic wrap. Store in the fridge.
