Shortcut Kouign Amann
Kouign Amann is such an underrated pastry in my opinion. Especially when you can create it them at home with this simple hack!
What you will need
1/3 cup Sugar
1 package Puff Pastry
2 Tbsp Unsalted Butter(Nutritional facts 419 calories, 14.66 g fat, 74.64 g carbohydrates, 0.27 g protein, 37 mg cholesterol, 12 mg sodium)
How to cook
Gather ingredients. Melt the butter in the microwave or saucepan.
Set oven to 400°F
Melt the butter and thoroughly brush the bottom and sides of a muffin tin.
Sprinkle a layer of sugar on your work surface the same size as the puff pastry sheet. Lay the puff pastry on top of the sugar and sprinkle with another layer of sugar.
Use a rolling pin to roll the sugar into both sides of the puff pastry.
Fold the puff pastry sheet in thirds like a letter and use the rolling pin to roll out to a couple inches larger on each side.
Brush the pastry with a layer of melted butter and sprinkle with some more sugar. Fold into thirds again.
Sprinkle with sugar one more time and roll the puff pastry out into a square.
Slice the puff pastry into 9 smaller squares.
Fold each corner into the center and place into the muffin tin. Repeat this with any remaining puff pastry.
Bake for about 20 minutes. They should be nicely golden brown. Remove the kouign amann from the muffin tin immediately.
