How to Freeze Squash

Buy cut squash or cut your own with the steps below. Freezing a whole squash is too difficult to thaw so I recommend freezing after it is cut.

Put the cubed squash into a sturdy ziplock bag or plastic tupperware. Seal tightly.

Label the bag with the date and the name of the item. Squash kept in the freezer is best used within a year.

To use frozen squash, remove the bag from the freezer and portion the amount you would like to use. It can be drizzled with olive oil and placed directly into the oven to roast, or into water to boil.
