How to cook
Peel and crush the 3 cloves of garlic.
Slice the sausage into rounds, about 1/2" wide.
With all of the ingredients prepared, you're ready to start cooking.
In a heavy skillet over medium heat, brown the sausage slices on both sides.
Clear a little space in the pan, ideally where there's a little sausage grease pooled. Stir the garlic into the grease.
Add the chicken broth. Stir to break up the crushed garlic.
Stir in the rice. Try to get it evenly spread across the bottom of the pan.
Add a good pinch of saffron.
Add a little salt and pepper. Cover the pan and hold at a gentle simmer for about 20 minutes.
Scatter the frozen peas over the top.
Arrange the shrimp on top of that. Press them down into the rice slightly.
Replace the lid and cook for an additional 10 minutes to steam the shrimp and cook the frozen peas.
